From Sunday’s meeting between President Muhammadu Buhari and governors elected under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, it has emerged that the governors pushed to be consulted in the filling of vacancies existing in the boards of federal agencies.

TheCable reports that Buhari responded to this demand made by the Progressives Governors’ Forum, PGF, by asking them to formally write to make the request.
Chairman of the PGF and governor of Imo state, Rochas Okorocha, has to this end sent a letter with the title: ‘Appointments to Boards of Federal Agencies’ to the President and copied all APC governors.

Okorocha wrote in the letter dated October 26, 2016: “Recall the meeting with Progressive Governors of October 23, 2016 on the above subject and the need to take every necessary step to ensure that party stakeholders are carried along as well as equitable distribution.
“Accordingly, Mr. President may wish to expressly request that party stakeholders meet on zonal basis to generate list of recommended nominees for consideration.
“While we await your directive, please accept the assurances of our highest esteem.”
Recall that the wife of the President, Aisha Buhari had complained in an interview with The BBC  that those who worked for her husband’s election have not been rewarded while those who knew nothing about his victory have been calling the shots.
