Terkimbi Ikyange Spit Fire, Says He Will Not Surrender His Seat As Speaker

Benue State House of Assembly Speaker, Hon Terkimbi Ikyange has vowed not to surrender his seat as member representing Ushongo state constituency.

He said this following the resolution passed by the House of Representatives calling on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to implement the ruling of a Federal High Court which ordered the restoration and conduct of elections in newly-created Mbagwa and Ushongo State Constituency in Ushongo local government.
In a press statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Bem Abunde, the speaker said that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had in a position paper to the House of Representatives Committee on Public Petitions on a petition on the matter, made it clear that it lacked the locus Standi to temper with the Certificate of Return of a validly elected representative like Rt. Hon. Terkimbi Ikyange, Speaker, Benue State House of Assembly, saying doing so will attract litigation against the umpire body and even delay the enforcement of the judgement.
He said he is unperturbed by the decision of the House of Representatives and called on his supporters to disregard wishful thinkers on the matter as he was committed to the discharge his duties.
