In Benue, 376 SUBEB Contractors Abscond With Mobilisation Fees

No fewer than 376 contractors are to be dragged to anti-graft agencies by Benue State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, for allegedly failing to move to sites after collecting mobilisation fees for the rehabilitation of schools in the state.

The affected contractors were among the 710, who, about four months ago, won the SUBEB contract bids for the rehabilitation of schools across the 23 local government areas of the state.

Executive Chairman of the Board, Dr. Philip Tachin, who made this known yesterday in Makurdi, expressed disappointment that the affected contractors had failed to abide by the contractual agreement they entered into with the board.
Dr. Tachin said it was an anomaly for any contractor to abandon government projects after collecting mobilisation fees.
The board Chairman added that he would be compelled to take the matter to anti-graft agencies, given the anti-corruption stance of Governor Samuel Ortom’s administration.
