TOR TIV STOOL: APC Chieftain Kicks, As Shangev People Present Candidate [SEE PHOTO]
The delimitation/selection of who to be Tor Tiv the 5th commenced last week in Shangev - Ya where it is hoped that the next Tor Tiv if must come from Kwande, should emanate from.
Recall that, Shangev - Ya is divided into four (4) segments and each segment is to produce one contestant. There were fifteen (15) contestants in Shangev - Ya and the selection process requires that each segment should produce one candidate, summing up to four (4) candidates in totality.
Bendega Jonathan, one of the fifteen (15) contestants emerged one among the four (4) selected persons, ahead of his "father" and elder brother Barr. Vincent Uji, a one time commissioner during Aper Aku's regime in the late 70's, whom presumably is approaching 80 years.
Barr. Vincent Uji threatened hell when his candidature was rejected by the oldest man in Kwande, who is also charged with the responsibility of appointing kings within his jurisdiction, in person of Elder Udele Jov, "the great" . The presence of Thugs in support of Barr. Vincent Uji at the venue created a lot of uprisings but still the will of God was achieved.
Udele Jov single - handedly handed over Bendega's son as candidate from his segment and vowed never to soil his name nor hands for money like his other kingsmen. "That, at his age (over 130 years) what he needs to do is to leave a legacy behind for others to follow and not interested in selling the Tor Tiv throne." There was missed feelings at the venue; while the entire villagers were jubilating, Uji and the thugs were making trouble.
Remember, Vincent Uji is APC chairman in Zone A.
I saw the manifest presence of God on that day. Only then, I believed what most men of God have said about the selection of the next Tor Tiv "that it cannot be politicised, nor bought." and must be given to a God fearing person - I strongly believe Bendega is this person because, he visited the Venue with no money, nor any thug, yet the villagers clamoured for him.
MY HUMBLE ADVICE TO BARR. UJI VINCENT .
* THE VOICE OF THE PEOPLE IS THE VOICE OF GOD.
* DONT DOUBT GOD.
Barr. Vincent Uji, with all due respect, you are a former commissioner of this state (Benue) even before I was born (1979). You are a statesman in your own right. You are also aspiring for the Tor Tiv Stool which is a public office and requires one with sound moral and ethical conducts. You should be careful about what you do or say in public, certainly you should be careful about your public conduct.
