Former NAFDAC boss, Dr. Paul Orhii and Former Benue-born international Football star Daniel Amokachi, Monday
visited the camp of Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) in Daudu, on the outskirts of Makurdi, the Benue state capital. reporter gathered that during the visit, Daniel Amokachi who was accompanied by his wife and daughter  donated several items including hundreds of footballs and jerseys. Others items donated were cartons of Indomie instant noodles, milk, bottled water, food supplements, biscuits and vitamins.

Daniel Amokachi who is currently the assistant coach of the Super Eagles said he is a complete son of the soil, his mother being from Gboko; the Tiv speaking part while his father is from the Idoma speaking part of the State.
He said he felt it was timely to join Dr. Orhii to reach out to the nearly forgotten people in their own ancestral home.
“When people are in pain, we should try and embrace and give them a hand to lift them up…and by the grace of Almighty God he says, this won’t be my last time for showing my face here, and at the same time, this should not be your home, God should take you back to your homes”.
Dr. Orhii told the persons (displaced by Fulani Herdsmen) that, he and Daniel Amokachi realized that the plight of IDPs had been forgotten by those who should ordinarily be their voice, hence their visit.
The Head of Makurdi Field Unit, UNHCR, Mr. Sam Agwa said that 30% of the IDPs are children under 12 years, whose parents have been killed by the Fulani herdsmen, “this means many of the children may not be going to school at the right time”. Sam Agwa also said that most people are sleeping on flat sheet mats on the bare floor.
Also commenting on the issue was the Parish Priest of the local Catholic Church, Rev. Fr. Solomon Ukeyima while receiving Dr. Paul Orhii and Daniel Amokachi, he thanked them for remembering the displaced people saying “those who should be speaking for them are suspiciously silent, leaving one to wonder if they have been compromised”.
Fr. Ukeyima also said the people voted for President Buhari who sadly places more importance on cattle rather than human lives.
